Hi Chris,

The fish you probably saw was the incorrectly? described Melanotaenia
exquisita from waterfall Ck. (it truly is a spectacular fish)
The area is now closed to us whiteys. (no offence to anyone meant) The
Aboriginals have claimed this area as tribal/sacred ? land. The area was
once named UDP falls and possibly has other names aswell.

The Waterfall Ck rainbow is much smaller than your average tri and IMO does
not look anything like the Edith River exquisita. Someone will correct me
if I am wrong. ;)
I think it does bear some resemblance to a tri.

As an aside I belive the next FoS due out now? Has an interesting article
written by Gunther Schmida which decries the desc. given to some Aussie
'bows. I have talked with Gunther on this subject and at the time we
generally agreed. I for one am looking forward to reading his article.

I once tried breeding a pair of these lovely fish but alas (probably due to
inexperience) achieved no positive results. If someone could get me another
pair I am now sure my results would be different. (hint hint) I now have a
few more breeding years under my belt. (Back of with the smart comments Doc
and/or Roy) <grin>

Cheers
Alan

In caverns deep, the Old Gods sleep;
but the trees still know their Lord,
and it's the Pipes of Pan which call the tune,
in the twilight of the wood.
The leaves they dance to the Goat God's tune,
and they whisper his name to the winds,
and the oak tree dreams of a God with horns,
and knows no other King.
