I have been fascinated by the article on Spotted Blue-eyes that appeared in
the last Fishes of Sahul. I congratulate the author and his helpers on a
beautiful piece of work. I have been comparing photos of fish from various
books and some of them match the pictures but others quite clearly don't.
Can anyone tell me how many other locations (beyond the 12) this fish occurs
in Australia and PNG.
Also, did it strike anyone else that the description of P. paskai as a
distinct species could easily be encompassed by the variation within P.
gertrudae given that the P. paskai description seems to be based on fin
length and shape and the number of spots on the fins.
P.S. The article by Dr. Bruce on the Kimberley was also very interesting
given my recent travels in that region.
