Re: [RML] Atyid shrimps
Adrian,
when you set up your planted aquarium, let me know and we can work out how to get some shrimps down to you.    The local Brisbane Atyids,  Caradina sp.  probably do a good job on algae as well.   Has anyone down there in Qld tried the local varieties?  You should be able to find heaps in any of the local streams among the Vallisneria beds.   I bet you any amount you like that Dr Bruce will know where to find some.

Cheers
Dave

I had them identified by the NT Museum crustacean staff once but have forgotten the name, I rang them again this morning and the resident crustacean expert has gone to Queensland (some people never learn). When I worked at the Wildlife Park we used them by the thousands to clean up new planted aquaria, then when the fish were placed in the exhibit they were an excellent source of live food.

Adrian does this mean you are going to set up a planted aquarium or have you done so already.

No, not yet - just interested :-)

Adrian.
