Isnt a Melanotaenia splendida australis a splendida ??????????(confused)
>>Definitely an 'australis' type fish. At a guess it is from the South
Alligator so would now be "Melanotaenia solata"
I Have M solata from St Alligator River received wild fish 6 years ago and
they are not quite like the fish pictured.
I feel think they are M.sp.australis drysdale the black is showing up to
strong for St Alligator.
I also feel there is quite a difference in the Northern Territory
australis/solata compared to the western Australian splendida australis in
colour
even look on the ANGFA splendida poster and the two Northern Territory
australis look simular to each other.
Then the two australis from Western Australia look simular to each other.
seems to be more blue in the NT specimens and more black in the WA
specimens. (if any of that makes sense to anyone??)]
