Dramatic temperature changes of 10 deg C. every day is a sure way to stress
and kill your fish. Tatei, fluvitilis, and duboulayi can handle long
periods of 10 deg water. I think in northern Germany you would have a very
hard time doing this unless the pond was in a heated greenhouse.

Larger volumes of water are better than small. Larger volume holds the heat
better than smaller.
