I was just wondering what sorts of large natives people are keeping on
this list. Can people outside of Oz get things like Barramundi, grunters,
sleepy cod etc? I would be interested to hear any comments on this.
I have a single Coal grunter (Hyphaestus carbo) that I bought at auction
for a song. So far the little critter has grown very fast on a diet of
earthworms, whitebait and the odd live fish. It has grown from 1" to 4"
in just over 2 months and is finally starting to get the black on gold
colouring that they are famous for. This is a fish for the aggressive
enthuisast, he managed to get to and kill a pair of guppys in a breeding
trap in his tank at a tiny 2". I am not sure how he managed that feat.
I would be interested to hear what sort of things that Australians keep
as well. I have seen a few interesting things kept here, Murray cod,
saratoga, bullrouts, sleepy cod, jungle perch, sooty grunters etc.
