Well the other benefit of using crushed coral is that when in the power
filter or box filter it is a good size that does not readily compact as
shell grit and is much more porous so it allows beneficial bacteria alot
more space to colonize. And keeping water quality up by keeping ammonia,
ammonium, nitrites, down to zero at all times is one of the most
important factors in keeping fish.
