<<. I am assuming that
calcium can also be derived from the crushed coral just as it can
from oyster grit or shells and the mineral blocks, I guess that main
question to be asking is at what rate is calcium being put into the
water column with crushed coral versus mineral blocks or oyster grit >>
>From what Roy and Scott have told us the blocks seem to dissolve away in a
month or so - I can't remember ever seeing my shellgrit disappearing
before my eyes :-) Seriously though they sound like thge ideal way to
handle this important problem in a convenient, cheap and practical way.
Perhaps we in Australia better see if we can arrange to import some or try
to find an equivalent here. Anyone with marine contacts here in Oz?
<< Also just let me ask as anyone used Maroxy to prevent fungus on
eggs?? any opinions on products to use, I am sure I just opened a
pandoras box with that question.>>
Why use any products Ted? After trying various dyes at various
concentrations I have gone back to just using tap water (with its' built in
fungicide chlorine which dissipates fairly quickly). If you remove the
obviously infertile eggs after a day or two before they contaminate those
nearby (syphoning them out with some air-line works well) you shouldn't
have too much trouble . I try to keep the hatching containers out of direct
sunlight also and I feel I get better results by bubbling an airstone in
one corner too.
