It is very difficult to navigate over there when everybody except you is on
the wrong side of the road to start with.

There are many possible explations for this observation. Fear may not have
anything to do with it. For example temperature - every housewife knows
that washing things in water that is not the right temperature may cause
shrinkage.

Alternative explations abound here also - he didn't want to scare the fish;
alter the habitat; attract alligators/crocodiles etc(we Australians are
rarely stuck for an excuse)

It looks like the "American" bug has really got to him - perhaps that is a
sign of advanced Vegemite withdrawl . I suggest more pumpkin.

Perhaps you need to go back to the habitat where his fish-collecting
attitudes were shaped then you may understand. Out of understanding comes
enlightenment and after that anything is able to be tolerated. ( That will
be $ 250 please in unmarked bills or I can send you a handfull of insurance
claim forms)
