I think that it has been mentioned before during the M. herbertaxelrodi
thread, but it bears repeating - group spawning would seem to help in many
ways - but FWIU they all seem to stem from making the best use of the
limited fishes available to us as hobbyists, and packing as much "genetic
diversity" into our fish as possible. This is oversimplifying it, but
that's the basic idea.
