I've recently tried moving my rainbows (15 M.
boesmani)outside for the summer here in the Willamette
Valley. I also put in a few Xiph. Nez just to see
what would happen. The pond size is about 90-100
gallon above ground fiber-glass trough. I put them in
about 30 days ago now at 1/2" long. I thought I would
see superior growth than those inside do to the live
assortment of foods available.(scuds, mosquito larva,
blood worms, and various other goodies). I haven't
seen those results...yet. As far as plants just some
fuzzy red green duckweed stuff to help keep the heat
in and to maybe help the xipho babies. Maybe next
year I'll put out some breeder pairs with hornwort and
pull every 2 weeks. Please keep us posted as to the
success you have.
