I have done it with Formalin (37% formaldehyde). You may need multiple doses
to keep the level low enough to be tolerated by your fish. On hydra, it
usually takes three treatments, every other day, at about 1-3 drops per
gallon, as I recall. The stuff is bound up by organics in the tank, so goes
away fairly quickly on its own.

It has been a while, but I think I used the same treatment for planaria that
I use for hydra.

Some fish don't tolerate it well, so watch closely and back off, with hasty
water changes, if they show loss of equilibrium or other obvious distress.

BTW, planaria are worth getting rid of, as they are right up there with
trumpet snails as egg eaters.

The fumes are irritating, and formaldehyde is poisonous and mildly
carcinogenic, so keep it off your own skin and use good ventilation.

In retrospect it becomes clear that hindsight is definitely overrated.
