This early collecting trip in Queensland may be of interest to some.

The Aquarium and Terrarium Society of Queensland was formed on tuesday 3rd of
August 1926, and this extract from the archives is there first collecting
trip.

Excursion to Enoggera Creek
Sunday Aug 29th 1926

The first excursion of the society was held on sunday last, when a party
consisting of the president, Mr J.C. Brunnich, Mr. Tanner, Mr. Pearce, Mr.
Carroll, Mr. Rudel, Mr. Darbyshire, Mr. Phillips, Mr. Woititzki, Mr.
Berkemeyer, Mr. Townsend and the secretary left Noth Quay at 9.45 am and
journeyed to the stone bridge, waterworks rd.
Nets out and cans ready was the general move on arrival, and the creek was
worked upstream for about a mile.
The time being somewhere in the vicinity of 11.30 it was decided that a photo
of the group be taken, after which Mr. Brunnich was forced to take leave of
the party & return to town.
The party thereupon moved on up the creek, a few of the members going back to
bring up the car. Lunch was partaken of on the banks of the creek, after which
a move was made along the creek again for about a mile where the car was again
left and all members walked across to the overflow of the Enoggera Reservor.
Here large quantities of the Crimson - spotted Sun fish were obtained and
taken back to the car.
After fish were sorted out and nets put away the return to town was made,
reaching the city at about 5pm the party dispersed.
The following fish were obtained :-
Crimson - spotted sun fish
Trout gudgeon
carp gudgeon
fire - tails
chanda perch
Fire - tails & carp gudgeon were obtained in full breeding livery.
In addition to fish Mr. Woititzki obtained a slow - worm and several frogs.

Makes for interesting reading these old collecting trips.
