I am 24, and I live in Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory. I've
been living here since 1990 but originally I came from a small country town
in New South Wales. I came down here to get an Engineering degree and now
I'm working as a Computer Consultant. I own my own consulting company (with
one employee ;-) ) and I work contracts primarily for the Government. Due
to the nature of my work my email address changes from time to time
(although it hasn't for a long time now).
I started killing fish at about 10 and perhaps I started keeping them a
couple of years after. I have only kept freshwater species, but species from
all the common families have been through my tanks at one time or another. I
now keep some Central & South American Cichlids as well as Rainbows. I am
finding however that the cichlid populations are decreasing as I try and
find more tanks for Rainbows. I am usually breeding at least one type of
Rainbow at any time. I keep a small number of a particular species (say a
pair or trio) and try to have fry available from them all the time in case
of disasters. This approach gives me heaps of work to do, but I can keep
more species in my tanks that way.
My favourite blue-eye would be the Honey (except I can't get viable eggs
from them!). I couldn't pick a favourite Rainbow but M. pygmaea would have
to go close. I have just started to get into Gobies & Gudgeons so I'll see
how they go.
