HI!
I don't know how todo a thumbnail sketch on the computer so...
I'm Dianne Vermillion and I joined the list after I bought my first rainbow,
(a trio of ) M boesemanni. I had 3 angelfish and a male siamese fightning
fish in a 20 g when I was in high school and
undergraduate school and quit when I moved a lot as a graduate student. Since
getting a faculty position and a house (I'm a physiologist), I have started
up again. THis time I bought a 55 gal and when I went to buy angelfish I saw
my first 'bow--love at first sight! Then I got M lacustris, G incisus
(trios) and finally a pair G. wanamensis-who I have renamed wannawho because
I found out that they are hybrids. And since these fish were well fed, they
grew quite abit and I got a 75 gal to move the bows so that the angelfish
could be at peace in a quieter tank. Of course it didnt stop there-a true
bowaholic-I have added 5 M praecox and plan to add a trio of the real
wanamensis and perhaps some macullochi.

All the bows except M boesemanni have now spawned, even the angel fish. Do
the boesemanni take longer to reach breeding age or size or? Perhaps in the
summer I will try motherhood, or spawnhood or whatever, when I have more time
to devote to the fry.

I really appreciate the help I have gotten from members on the list- for
instance when my fish had a bout with intestinal worms.

Bows are beautifull, hardy and have personality!
I sit for hours just watching them, to the point that my angels are ignored
I'm afraid.

Now its on to getting my plants to grow- I got help from the list on that
too, and now with double the light, added magnesium and potassium my plants
in the 55g are growing new leaves!!!

Thanks and Good 'bow Hunting
