Now you're talking -
But let's get real, if we can't convince the "propellorheads" that
Rainbowfish and Blue-eyes are safe to bring in , what chance have we got
for Gudgeons, Gobies, Glassperches and whatever else is on your
"pie-in-the-sky" list ;-)
I have been trying to find any hard evidence that would support the
continuation of the ban on PNG Rainbowfish and nobody seems to be able to
offer any. But you do geta big "inertia" factor in these things.
Also Bureaucrats like to hide behind anonymity with statements like, "Our
expert advice leads us to believe etc etc". There is also a pervasive
underlying reason that goes something like this "The reason we have no
problem with PNG Rainbowfishes is because we have the ban on them in
place." When you point out that the fish are still sneaking in they either
start making threatening noises or talk about disease risks.
If we can get some PNG Rainbowfishes on to the allowable import list
(Schedule 6) then perhaps we can work on some other groups next,

Bruce.
