I think you are closing in on my area of concern. If you want to keep
hybrids - great. But you have to know what you are keeping and
buying. How can you possibly go about breeding stuff if you don't have
a clue as to their validity. But In MY experience the farmers and
retailers don't know and don't care and are not interested in having any
of their customers any the wiser either.
You were right in noting that there is a lot of crap at fish club auctions.
But if you see that kind of stuff then raise a stink about it!! I certainly do
if I see mislabeled or misidentified fish. And if they are deformed etc.
that should never be allowed. Most clubs have rules about that so,
speak up and see that they're enforced. Don't be complacent. And I'm
not meaning you in particular Chris. So what if people think you're a
jerk? Your're motivation is sound. Did any of us come to these opinions
on our own? I think we were all educated in these views and should
make the effort to educate others.
As for things not getting back to their original habitat it doesn't seem far
fetched to me that someone would endeavor to return something to it's
original habitat. Afterall would anyone have thought that some one
would go to all the trouble of rounding up all the species of birds
mentioned in the works of Shakespeare and release them into North
American skies?
