As a side note, I moved the male into the tank where I was keeping the females.
This was a bare bottom tank with only a sponge filter in it. He spawned with the
second female in there almost immediately. They laid the eggs directly on the
glass bottom. He also sat on them trying to guard them. However his actions
dislodged them and the eggs were lost to the females who would grab the eggs as
soon as they moved far enough away from the male. Funny what fish will do if they
want to breed and the proper spot for it isn't available. (or sometimes when it
is). :)
