It has been great to see all the enthusiasm about making the information on
the list archive more accessible. We (Alan and Andrew) are happy for all
concerned to contribute to this project. However, don't expect us to do
much of this, except in an administrative capacity... ;)
We have the following thoughts:
- feel free to take whatever you like from the archived files for your own
use in club publications etc. The information is there to be used. All we
ask is that authorship be acknowledged and that changes be cleared with the
original authors.
- collations/summaries/whatevers intended for inclusion in the archive are
more than welcome - the suggestion was made that topics be nominated to the
list to avoid duplication of effort. Be advised though - when
summaries/collations are posted to the list they become public property for
comment - care should be taken whilst preparing compositions. Preferably we
would like to see them posted to the list for comment.
As a suggestion, topics could take the form of:
"Collation of Discussion on origin/colouration/captive status of M.
herbertaxelrodi on the RML May-June 1996" by J. Blow and F. Nerk
"Summary of Discussion on Disease Risks of Importation - Ulcers/TB on the
RML May-July 1996" by Dr P. Head
These would be included on the archive page for all to use in the future.
It could be reasonably expected for collaters/summarisers to be fully
acknowledged when reproduced elsewhere.
The bottom line is we are happy to see the collected thoughts used for the
benefit of rainbowphiles everywhere - as long as the status quo (of
evenhandedness) is maintained.
Regards, Alan and Andrew
