This is not a singular event.
Over the past 6 years we have had 2 aquarium mags go
belly-up. Both were the only one at the time. Reasons?
Same as with yours: poor response and lack of
advertising. I don't know why this happens... Locally, I
think the main problem was the lack of sales in Pet
stores (the issues were mainly sold at news agents) and
perhaps poor advertising. The content was always good
though.
Perhaps we should sit down and ask why it is that TFH
and DATZ has survived where so many others have
fallen... Glossy covers? Loads of advertising? Or maybe
it is because these 2 countries are home to 90% of the
Aquarium product economy. Hagen is Canadian. Wardley
American. Tetra and Sera German.
Who knows what the reasons are, all we know is we need
to stay in contact with the rest of the world. So I got
TFH, which will you get now? TFH, PFK or if you can read
German DATZ?
Well, enough ranting for now. The lack of another good
publication just saddens me. (I've seen an issue or 2 of
PA&WG locally and enjoyed the contact.)
