I had similar experiences with my Poppondettas - I always had to keep them
on the lowest level and lower temperatures seemed to produce not only more
eggs but better fertility too.
I remember Walter Ivantsoff telling us at one of the angfa conferences that
he had collected them at temperatures well under 20C ( around 17 I think)
and there were lots of juveniles around at the time
I don't recall any obvious impression that atmospherics seemed to trigger
breeding. I have often told other enthusiasts that I felt that 26C seemed
to be the critical Temp in my hands - above that breeding was unproductive
