Mystery snails are supposed to be very gentle on your live plants. They
come in black, gold and albino, and are related to the apple snails (apple
snails will decimate plants though). Another nice thing about these is
that they lay their bright pink eggs (they look like someone puked up some
cotton candy) ;) *above* the surface of the water, so they are easy to
do population control on. If you see an egg mass, you can just take a
razor blade and scrape them off into a small container and no baby snails!
:) Many stores carry them so they should not be too hard to find.
