Hi RML Members,

I am currently attempting to breed my first batch of Praecox, and am
encountering the following problems :

(1) I have a breeding setup of 3 males and 2 females, sizes approximately 1
inch. Water parameters : ph of 7.2, hardness of 120 ppm and temp of 24 C. I
feed these breeders bloodworm and freeze dried river shrimp twice a day.
However, I am only getting abount 3-4 eggs per day. Is this the normal
number of eggs produced daily ?

(2) The fry that have hatched so far (6) have not survived beyond the third
day. The water parameters in the fry tank are : ph 7.4, temp 28 C. There
is a sponge filter in one corner (on low) and a handful of shellgrit in the
tank. I feed the fry liquid food, Sera Micron and Tetra powder food. ( I am
currently waiting for some APR from the local aquarium). The fry are fed
once in the morning before work, and twice when I get home from work. The
fry are supposed to be hanging around the surface of the tank, but my second
batch of 10 that hatched yesterday are swimming mid water, and some are even
"resting" at the bottom.

Can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong, or how I can improve the success
rate with the fry ?

Thanks,

Chen Leong
