[acn-l] exotic fish pathogens info

hi ...

everyone knows we should not release aquarium fish to the wild
because they could spread exotic pathogens to wild fish
populations.

Does anyone know of instances where such incidences have had
a dramatic effect on wild fish populations? I'm not looking for
foodfish aquaculture examples. I need incidents in North America
tied to pet industry _aquarium_ fish releases to the wild. Also, any
incidents tied to baitfish and endangered species propagation
programs would be of interest.

It's for an article I'm writing. Any help--names of people to contact,
papers, recollections that I can follow-up on--would be appreciated.

Please reply to whimbrel at home.com

thanks,
shireen
