G'day folks

Thought I'd forward this on. The original poster is a little over
enthusiastic about the book, it's ok, but nothing special relative to the
first edition with added mistakes and little focus on conservation
despite it's importance these days. However, for the price being offered
it is an excellent deal.

Cheers

Subject: BOOK ON AUSTRALIAN FRESHWATER FISHES

McDowall, R.M. (1986) Freshwater Fishes of South-Eastern Australia.
(2nd edn). Reed Books. 247 pp.

This book is the most comprehensive and up to date book on Australian
freshwater fish. The first edition was released in 1980, and this
edition includes major revisions of nearly all chapters. The latest
edition will serve as the major reference book of fish in south-east
Australia for the next decade, and should find a place on the
bookshelves of all scientists, students and natural historians
around the world interested in freshwater fish.

Copies of this useful book are now available at the substantially
discounted price of AUD $10.00 each, through the editor:

Dr Bob McDowall e-mail R.McDowall at NIWA.CRI.NZ

This is not an obscure, out-dated book of limited interst being
flogged to clear the shelves. This is a valuable resource selling at
a bargain price.

PLEASE DIRECT ALL REQUESTS TO THE EDITOR.
