Hello. I am the species maintenance chair for the
American
Livebearer Association. This is the national club for
fish
keepers interested in mollies, swordtails, goodieds,
halfbeaks, and
other livebearing fishes.
As species maintenace chair I need to keep track of
who keeps
what species, and encourage people to keep fish long
term, which
no one else is keeping (captive breeding for
conservation).
To help me do this, I use a hodge podge of software:
spreadsheets,
text files, web pages, and a PERL script. This works,
but not
well.
Therefore, I would like to know what software (if any)
you use
in keeping track of your club's species maintenance
efforts? Or,
if you know of any such software available for hobby
use.
If no one has software they like using, then perhaps I
will try
to write software specifically to run a species
maintenace program.
I'm a software engineer, so I can do that, but I don't
want to do
it, if such software already exists. So please tell
me, if you
know of any software to help run a species maintenance
program.
Please feel free to forward this email to anyone who
might be
able to help, or who would find it interesting.
Thanks.
