The Pacific Institute is pleased to announce the posting of our final comments on the Salton Sea Restoration Project draft EIS/EIR. The Salton Sea Restoration Project offers an opportunity to preserve and protect a vital stopover on the Pacific Flyway, supporting more than 400 species of birds. The Restoration Project is also closely linked to several Colorado River issues, including the use of flood flows and California's 4.4 Plan. The Pacific Institute comments may be downloaded as pdf files from our website, at http://www.pacinst.org/ water.html#salton

These comments include a general overview and analysis of the Restoration Projection as currently defined, a chart displaying the costs associated with the Project's five proposed alternatives, and page-specific comments on the DEIS document itself.

We welcome any response to our comments - please direct your suggestions or
criticisms to mcohen at pacinst.org

apologies for any cross-postings
