I also find myself intrigued by keeping rare and endangered fish. I
feel that they are special and that I am special for sucessfully
keeping them. That's simplistic but describes the attitude in as much
as I care to anylize it. Yes, it seems selfish.

I have also done some work in habitats, and I get a good feeling from
this... also seems selfish.

In the end, I think all things we strive to do must have some internal
motivation - and feeling good about what we do reinforces our efforts.
Probably a good thing.
