MESQUITE AND BOULDER CITY, NV
We will meet at 10 am at the reception area of the Virgin River Inn and
Casino in Mesquite NV, Friday March 14th. We'll spend the day
monitoring woundfin populations in the Virgin River. Accomodations at
the Inn are typically $20 a night per person during weeknights. Friday
night we move down to Boulder City, NV. Camping is available on Lake
Mead or Lake Mohave or one can stay at a local casino. Saturday will be
spent placing rocks in an artifical stream constructed for native fish in
Veteran's Park, Boulder City. Possible arrangements to visit the Devil's
Hole refugia at the base of Hoover Dam and perhaps some other local
fishy spots, may be in order.
Sunday morning we will move to Ash Meadows. Peter Unmack will be
present at Ash Meadows through Wednesday morning. Folks wishing to
assist in fish removal or do other work at Ash Meadows (some dead reeds
need to be removed from a couple of spring pools to open up pupfish
habitat) are more than welcome to stay and join in the fun. Some cooking
equipment will be made available, a stipend towards the food ($10.00) is
requested , and Jim Lawson will be doing an outstanding effort as chef.
Please call to let us know that you will be attending. Car pools will be
put together so please let us know if you need a ride or can offer a ride.
