Dear sir:
About 15 years ago, the walking catfish(Clarias batrachus) was
a commercial ones on the market in Thailand.Because of they grows slower
and smaller than the African catfish(C. gariepinus). The Department of
Fisheries has introduced the African catfish and distributed to the
farmers. Now they cross the African catfish with C. macrocephalus and sale
the hybrid on the market. Now the C.batrachus is becoming threatened and
it is very difficult to find. Now I am trying to collect and study the
genetic diversity among stocks before runnig the conservation program. The
problem that I confronted now is the most of fishes died after
trnasportation and raring in the lab.Does any of you have the specific
experience concerning about this problem ? Please send me some suggestions
by above e-mail address.
Thanking in advance.
Best regards
Amnuay Jondueng
