Subject: Fisheries Renewal BC Alert!
Fisheries Renewal BC Alert!
Port Hardy Mayor Russ Hellburg (an outspoken fan of finfish aquaculture) is
heading the Fisheries Renewal Board committee on Communication and
Consultation, and is therefore key to the consultative process in which
Fisheries Renewal BC
is currently engaged.
Mayor Hellburg demontratively asserted throughout the Salmon Aquaculture
Review that he sees no inconsistency in supporting salmon aquaculture while
having concern for wild stocks (though it's best to remember at one SAR
meeting in Campbell River he claimed it was the fault of the commercial fishers
for the state of the pacific salmon stocks and they should support the farm
growth agenda).
Now Hellburg heads a consultative process to massage funds intended to
restore wild salmon for his aquaculture industry friends vis-a-vis Fisheries
Renewal BC.
If you are opposed to FsRBC funding net pen salmon aquaculture to come out of
this consultative process, call your MLA or the Premier:
